Where technical wizardry is concerned, Avatar pushed the envelope as far as it could go. Maybe it’s time for a return to simplicity. Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland simply looks like an overproduced, over-embellished version of Lewis Carroll’s beloved children’s classic. Too childish for adults, too adult for kids, it sort of falls between two stools.
