BARSAAT MEIN
The rains bring out the best in Hindi film lyricists, composers and even choreographers. And some of the most popular actresses have done memorable dances in the rain. Here's a list of a dozen favourites:
In Naya Zamana Hema danced with abandon in the rain, while Dharmendra looked on in surprise.
Zeenat Aman: Hai hai yeh majboori, yeh mausam aur yeh doori
It's raining, it's romantic, Zeenat does a wild dance in Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, while Manoj Kumar stands under a shelter worrying about his "do takiyaan di naukri".
Smita Patil: Aaj rapat jaayen
Who'd have thought the then princess of art films could wear a white sari and dance joyously in the rain with Amitabh Bachchan in Namak Halal.
Mumtaz: Chhup gaye saare nazare
One of the sexist actresses of all time, with a real pout, she did this great getting-drenched-in-the-rain number with a staid Rajesh Khanna in Do Raaste.
Leena Chandarvarkar: Hai re hai neend nahin aaye
She in a super-tight churidar-kameez, he (Jeetendra) in tight trousers and both gyrate with crazy energy in this song from Humjoli while it pours in a pyaar bhara mausam deewana.
Sridevi: Kaate nahi kat te
This Mr India number has Sridevi writhing seductively in a blue sari for an invisible Anil Kapoor, making it one of the most popular rain dances of all time.
Madhuri Dixit: Koi Ladki Hai
There's her and Shah Rukh Khan in Dil To Pagal Hai, freaking out in the rain with a bunch of kids, to entertain an injured Karisma Kapoor, who can't resist jumping out a wheelchair and joining them. Lovely, exuberant dance.
Raveena Tandon: Tip tip barsa pani
Terrifically erotic, this Mohra dance in the rain with Akshay Kumar, practically steamed up the screen-- getting soaked looked like a very good idea.
Kajol: Mere khwabon mein jo aaye
If you want to show a traditionally brought up girl and still make the audience drool, do it like Aditya Chopra in DDLJ – make an actress like Kajol dance in the rain in a tiny white mini dress, and she can make it look sexy and innocent at the same time.
Kareena Kapoor: Bhaage re man
She plays hardened yet childlike hooker in Chameli and shows Rahul Roy her dance moves in this hot number in Mumbai's pouring rain when the city has stopped moving.
Preity Zinta: Idhar chala main udhar chala
A jig in the rain with Hrithik Roshan in Koi Mil Gaya, portrayed a pure, unerotic enjoyment of the rain—like kids splashing in puddles.
Aishwarya Rai: Barso re megha megha
Mani Ratnam who has a penchant for making his heroines dance in the rain, gives Aishwarya Rai a beautiful rain-soaked solo in Guru.

Thanks Parul...The Raj-Nargis umbrella song is in the rain, but does not have the word barsaat or baarish in it :)
