When Guy Ritchie’s first installment of the new Sherlock Holmes series came out in 2009, this critic had noted, “Arthur Conan Doyle's great detective hero Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr Watson belong to a London of cobbled streets, hansom cabs, top hats, courtly manners and a languid pace of life. Guy Richie's Sherlock Holmes may still live in Victorian England, but the director has turned him into a blend of Bruce Lee, Jason Bourne, James Bond, Superman, and whatever else he wanted.”
